Status : OPEN - Anyone can join [ please try and stay in sequence ] Place : Tulgey Woods When : Just after sunset ; Full moon
It was just after the glimmering sun of day ended when Hyde was out walking around the Tulgey Woods. He looked around, scanning the forest floor to see if any ponies had walked by; he was getting hungry. Hyde licked his fangs, some of which that stuck out of his mouth. His wings were tucked into his back and his tail was down too, making sure that anyone near by couldn't see him, he needed to keep low because he was fairly big and didn't want to blow his 'cover'. He walked and walked until he spotted a bunny; he took care of that little animal quickly and licked his lips cleaned. His ears perked up, thinking that he heard something or someone near by; he turned his head in the direction the sound came from. His yellow eyes gleamed in the dark.

After closing up shop Crossette decided to do a little overtime. Some of her supplies were running low and she had to scout out some deposits. After all she couldn't be expected to mine at night without the proper precautions. That normally doesn't end well. As she stepped out her horn glowed yellow as her limited location spell was cast. With any luck it would lead her to the general location of said deposits, but seeing how it doesn't directly tie into her talent it could be a bit off. Nonetheless she followed the spell's lead and headed off towards the woods. Hopefully it wouldn't be too far. Even if she wasn't exactly a defenseless little filly she'd rather not get into any altercations.

The roanwolf heard someone coming into the forest. But who was it- if it was a pony they were in for some trouble. Hyde turned and walked over to the entrance of the forest, looking around to see if anyone was there. There was; a little yellow pony with a rocket on her flank. What was she doing in the forest at this hour? Hyde walked around behind a bush, almost following her. In his path, he stepped on branches and twigs, breaking them in half. Hyde kept his wings and tail down so she couldn't see them, or him.

As the twigs snapped Crossette became rather alert and set her little mission on hold. Her spell deactivating whilst she turned towards the sound. Could it just be the usual sounds of the woodlands, or could something more be nearby? To answer this question she slowly walked towards the direction of said sounds only to have a rabbit jump out of some of the nearby bushes. Surely a rabbit wouldn't be heavy enough to make that sound, but seeing that creature assured her that it was likely just wildlife. With a shrug she reactivated her spell and headed back on her way. That said she wasn't going to completely let down her guard. Her eyes were still scanning the area for anything that told her otherwise.

Hyde, being awful close to the area she was near, couldn't help but jump out of the bushes and stomp on the rabbit that jumped out at the little unicorn. Hyde made sure to kill the tiny bunny and eat the remains. The sounds he made when eating it weren't all that pleasnt either. When he was finished with that little meal, he stood, being bigger then any normal stallion. He turned and glared at the little pony who /hand her guard up/. She probably wasn't expecting a creature like Hyde. As he turned his head towards the other, he licked his face clean of the rabbits blood that surrounded his mouth; his eyes glowed in the moonlight, a fierce yellow.

Crossette turned rather quickly upon hearing something move from the bushes. That.... whatever it was seemed preoccupied at the moment with the rabbit. That said it WAS eating a defenseless little bunny and that was a wee bit disturbing. That reflected onto her expression as one of fear took over, her ears folding back as well. Once the initial shock passed she tried to back away without making too much noise. Sadly there wasn't nearly enough time. Soon enough the towering creature was looking directly at her. 'Horseapples.' the mare thought to herself as she tried to think of any way out of this situation. Her usual method of explosions could put the forest in danger since controlled bursts to scare it away seemed unlikely, and her skill in magic that didn't have to do with pyrotechnics was sorely lacking. Running was the best option, but most predatory creatures had the instinct to counter that. This did not bode well in the least.

The beast stared at Crossette, his yellow eyes looking her up and down. She was small- but like any other normal pony. She looked good, /good enough to eat/. Hyde licked his lips again and turned his whole body to her; he had scars on his legs and back and fangs stuck out of his mouth. He blinked a few times, then he took a few steps forward to her. He never attacked until they ran. He loved to chase them down, thats why he couldn't help but attack the rabbit- because it ran. He slowly extended his wings, have them up and facing her, making himself look bigger. Maybe that would help her make a run for it. Not that she would last long.

Crossette silently cursed her luck as the beast turned towards her. His wings extending did cause her to take an involuntary step back, trying to fight every urge to run. Sure she didn't want to be there, but she wasn't about to risk it. Shortly after said step she took a moment to collect herself. Yes she was terrified and clearly this creature knew it, but maybe this was one that would back down with a little feigned bravery. After said calming her ears perked back up and her expression switched to a determined one. Of course if he could sense fear she'd still be at a disadvantage. Of course the steps towards her made it so much more difficult to keep up her charade. After a few falters she took a step toward as well for the sake of her insane little survival plan. Of course she couldn't stick to just this. Maybe talking? Could he even understand the basic language? She opened her mouth to try to say something, but the words never came. This situation was far from ideal.

Hyde stared at her, checking every step she took, every breath, every blink. She was scared and he knew it. He walked her stagger back when he took a step forward. He growled lightly, teeth bared. He flapped his wings, making them touch the ground then coming back up. They made her uncomfortable, he saw this and took advantage of it. He took a another step forward but then when he face changed, he blinked, studying her. What was she doing? When she took a step towards him, he took a step back unknowingly. He stared at her, his teeth away. He growled again and took another step toward, like he was. When she opened her mouth, he expected something like /shoo/ or /get away/. His ears perked up to listen, but nothing came out. Now, he tucked his wings back into his back. What was she trying to do?

As time passed Crossette kept trying to speak to no avail, and his tactics didn't help that. Every nerve in her body was screaming to run, but even if she wanted to she couldn't. And this point she was frozen out of fear though she tried her best not to show it. What broke her out of this was him ceasing two of his previous methods. It was then she found her voice again. "H-hello." she started, trying not to be overly rude in an attempt not to anger him. Maybe if she was polite she could get out of this? It was a long shot, but it was the only plan she had with relatively low backfire rate for this situation. "M-my name is C-crossette. A-and you are?" No matter how hard she tried she couldn't shake the shaky sound of fear from her voice. If she was lucky the attempted conversation would distract him from that.

Hello? Was she really trying to talk to him. He was a huge monster, he could snap her in half in an instant. Why was she even doing this? Why wasn't she running like all the other ponies in this place? He growled when she said hello and glared at her when she asked him name. Why did she care? Was she trying to talk her way out of her death? She was going to get eaten, why was she fighting it? He blinked at her, tilting his head alittle bit because he didn't talk. Maybe he could, maybe he couldn't, be he never opened his mouth ever- only to eat. Extending his wings again and his ears twitching, he took another step towards her, sniffing the air around her. Was this her plan or was she trying something even more evil?

As he growled Crossette gave a nervous smile in return. "You... can't talk? W-well..." she said, shifting her weight a bit. "C-can you understand m-me? U-um... no offense... I-I didn't mean to asume..." And even during situations like this she can't avoid the recovery rambling, but at least there was something to distract her from continuing it for too long. While the rambling did make her miss the step forward and the initial spreading of his wings she didn't miss the fact she was being sniffed. With any luck this meant she wasn't about to be somepony's dinner. If worse came to worse she could always alter her plan by directing him to the den of some animal, but she was hoping to avoid that since that still fell on the running plan. Unless she planned to spend all night hunting down defenseless creatures with this beast.

Hyde growled a little when she asked if he could understand her. Of course he could! What? Did she think he was an animal? He nodded when she asked if he could understand. Pfft.. ponies. He glared at her and took another step close, sniffing her again, checking if she had anything on her- she didn't- or so he could smell. Hydes ears twitched, what was she going to say? Offer him a deal or something? This... Crossette.. was an interesting one. But the moment she ran- she was finished. He took another step, but this time to the side; he started to circle her, watching her every movement again. Her breath, her mouth, her legs, her tail, ears, eyes- everything. If she did one thing out of line- dun dun duuun.

As he nodded in response Crossette felt a bit of relief. At least the conversation plan wasn't completely hopeless. Instead it'd just be a bit more difficult what with him not being able to respond and all. Speaking of difficulties he was currently circling her like a shark. This wasn't exactly helping her composure much and that did show for a brief moment before she took the time to collect herself once more. "A-alright. G-good. That m-makes this easier." she said as she tried her hardest, and failed, at ignoring the circling. "S-so... u-um... nice t-to meet you..." A lie, but formalities are formalities. She had to at least try to stay nice. Now what sort of simple questions that can be answered in nods can she ask? This was quite the handicap. Almost everything she could think of required vocal responses. Lucky for her she didn't have to at the moment. The slight sound of rustling accompanied by a blur that seemed rabbit-like running from a foxish blur provided a momentary distraction. "T-there m-must be a w-warren nearby." she thought aloud, continuing said thoughts in her head. 'And hopefully that chase scene isn't going to be repeated.'

Now Hyde was just getting irritated. Nice to meet you? What was this foolish foal trying to pull! He continued to circle her, seeing that it made her nervous. He could just kill her now- but what fun would that be? She is just standing there like a deer in the headlights. Low growled came from the beast and his eyes stared at her intensely. He didn't even notice the blur- what an animal? He didn't know, he didn't care. He stopped when she told him a warren was near by. What does that have anything to do with us, he thought. He should just stomp on the ground, that'll make her jump, then she will run and that's that's.
